The number one thing you need to understand before we get into the details of how long it takes to earn a full-time income and have an affiliate marketing career is that it takes a consistent effort over the course of years.

The affiliate marketers that become successful are referred to as super affiliates.  Super affiliates are people who earn more than 99% of other affiliates for a specific affiliate program. 

Now, the question becomes: What is the 1% doing differently that has allowed them to succeed?

It all comes down to only focusing on a handful of affiliate programs (typically 1-5) and dedicating years of hard work to becoming the best and providing value to your audience.  This is what separates those that make a full-time income with affiliate marketing and those that don’t earn more than a few hundred dollars.

A career in affiliate marketing is a great way to earn passive income with an existing audience that you have.

Here’s the big issue with affiliate marketing:  You don’t own or control the product.  In other words, the company that you’re an affiliate for can slash commissions in half overnight without warning.

Amazon is a good example of this…  They decreased commissions in every category of products by more than 50% on April 21, 2020.

If you’ve got all your revenue coming in only from affiliate marketing, then you could be in big trouble.  

This is why I would encourage you to start to build up an audience, use affiliate marketing to monetize that audience initially, and then eventually gain expertise to sell digital products and physical products to your audience.

You can even start to create live events as more high ticket items.

Remember, the more you control and diversify your income streams, the more you can confidently scale your business and invest in employees.
