Feature #1: Email Marketing Campaigns
The main thing you’ll be creating inside Moosend is email marketing campaigns.
Once you’ve created your account, you’ll be able to view the main dashboard. You can then select campaigns in order to start sending out emails.
Note that if you’ve got an existing email list you want to import, then you can do that by going to mailing lists and clicking on import members. You then have the option of importing your pre-existing email list either by csv/txt file, Excel file, paste text, Google contacts plugin, or the Saelsforce plugin.
Once you’ve got your email list straightened out, it’s time to head back to creating your first email campaign.
The five main types of email campaigns that you can create with Moosend are:
- Regular One-time Campaigns
- A/B Split Campaign
- Automation Campaign
- Repeatable HTML Campaign
- RSS Campaign
Regular campaigns are normal emails that you can send out to your whole list or only a segmented portion of your list as one-off email campaigns.
A/B split campaigns are actually two different email campaigns that you can send out which are similar but maybe with different subject lines. This allows you to test which campaign will be seen the most and give you the highest CTR in your emails for your list.
Automation campaigns can be created and then sent to your subscribers using an automation action.
Repeatable HTML campaigns give you the ability to send out emails to your subscribers consistently using content that updated from a URL of your choice.
RSS campaigns are able to use the RSS feed URL from your blog or website and send out the email based upon the updated content from that URL. You can set the specifics of how you want RSS campaigns to be scheduled and sent out when you create one.
As a quick walkthrough of creating a new campaign, you can click on create a regular campaign which then brings you to the Moosend “campaign setup wizard”.
The setup wizard takes you through step-by-step each time to create your regular email campaign. The setup wizard is used for all the other types of campaigns available as well, there are just a few changes in the steps required on specific ones.
You can start by filling out the campaign settings with the campaign name, subject, preview text, sender email, reply to email, and the confirmation email.
The next step is selecting a mailing list that you created using your existing contacts or create a new list. Then you can choose to edit your email campaign using HTML, text, or HTML and text side by side.
Here’s what the email campaign editor looks like inside.
Moosend also has a template library with approximately 60+ categories of email campaign templates to choose from. You can find lots of different templates for blogging, automation, e-commerce, travel, RSS, sales, and more.
All of the email campaign templates are optimized for desktop, tablet, and mobile right out of the box.
Take a look at the different templates here.
There’s also a preview and test email option. The preview allows you to see what your email will look like to your subscribers when they read it.
The send test option will allow you to enter your personal email or an email of your choice to send a test email to make sure everything is working and looks right upon receiving the email campaign.
One great thing that’s available when creating a campaign with Moosend is a content spam text and design and deliverability test. The content spam test ensures your emails won’t end up in spam and rates your email campaign against all the popular spam filters out there.
The design and deliverability test offered for each campaign lets you send your campaign up to 5 recipients in order to test the layout before sending the email out to all of your subscribers.
The final step in creating a regular email campaign inside Moosend is scheduling the delivery of the email to your list of subscribers.
I’ve typically found that email open rates are higher on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so if you can schedule a campaign then it may be to your advantage. Or you can simply send out the campaign immediately.
However, I would recommend not sending out campaigns late at night or on the weekends. This can hurt your email open rate potentially.
Feature #2: Built-In Drag & Drop Landing Page Creation
If you don’t want to have to pay for both an email marketing software and a sales funnel builder such as DropFunnels, then having the ability to create landing pages with Moosend as a great feature that you’ll use frequently.
You can create simple landing pages using Moosend using their drag and drop landing page builder and create opt-in forms that connect directly with Moosend.
This makes it super easy and affordable to start building your email list and generating leads for your business.
There are also quite a few landing page templates that are available from Moosend such as lead generation, webinar, and ebook landing page templates. There’s more being created and added to the list every day as well, which makes it a great resource to use and start your own landing page design from.
Feature #3: Personalize Your Emails (List Segmentation & Custom Fields)
The personalization feature of Moosend makes your email marketing that much more effective.
You’ll be able to connect with your subscribers and audience in ways that you simply couldn’t before.
You can use contact custom fields to send personalized emails based upon a subscriber’s name, where they’re from, what they’re interested, and anything else that you can come up with to enhance the customer experience for your business.
One of the unique things that Moosend offers is weather-based recommendations based upon where a subscriber is when they’re receiving your emails.
This allows you to show certain products that match the current real-time weather and close the sale that much easier.
Another interesting thing for e-commerce stores is that Moosend has an e-commerce AI that analyzes customer data when sending out emails to each subscriber.
For instance, you can provide personalized product recommendations inside your email dynamically based upon a specific customer’s previous purchase or products they viewed recently on your website.
Feature #4: Edit Email Campaigns/Newsletters
I’ve covered already how to set up an email campaign and the main editor but there are a few extra things when it comes to editing your emails.
One of the great things about the email campaign editor inside Moosend is that you can view your design history. So, you’ve got a personal library of all your previous designs that make it so much easier to write the next email.
You can add in a countdown timer inside your campaign emails as well. This will produce a sense of urgency if you’re doing a product launch or have a special discount that’s only available for a limited time.
Email campaign templates can be designed to your liking and also saved for later when you come back to write a new email. This ensures your subscribers are familiar with the style of your emails.
You can also use custom fonts and add videos inside your emails. These things are not available in every email marketing software, but Moosend gives you the ability to easily incorporate them into your campaigns.
Feature #5: Drag & Drop Email Automations
Creating and designing email automation sequences is likely where you’ll spend most of your time. By creating email automation sequences, it allows you to follow up with subscribers on autopilot and increase the conversions to sales for your business.
When you go to create a new automation, there are 18 different “recipes” or automation templates to choose from. You can also create a custom automation from scratch.
Once you’re inside the automation editor, you can then set the initial trigger for your automation if you’re not already using one of the pre-made recipes.
When adding a new automation step, you can choose from the following conditional/control steps and actions:
- Conditional/Control Steps
- Filter by weather conditions in contact’s location
- Filter (If condition/Else)
- Wait a specific time interval
- Actions
- Send email campaign
- Ping me
- Subscribe to list
- Unsubscribe from list
- Trigger another automation
- Set custom field value
- Increase/decrease custom field value
- Post a webhook
Feature #6: Optin Form Creation
Moosend gives you the ability to create opt-in forms to use on your landing pages and website.
Here is a list of the different form types you can choose from:
- Modal Popup – shows up in the middle of the page
- Inline form – blemds in with the rest of the content on the page
- Floating bar – a bar at the top of the screen that floats in place as the visitor scrolls down the page
- Floating box – a form that’s on a certain corner of the screen and discretely draws attention without taking away from the user experience
- Full page form – covers the entire page
The subscription form editor is also drag and drop and there are several templates to choose from that you can work off of to start using.
When you’re ready to publish the form, you can either connect your website and use it on specific pages, get a link to your form to use, or get a code snippet to embed the form on your website.
Feature #7: E-commerce AI
Moosend is great for e-commerce sites specifically since there are several features that are geared towards running e-commerce stores.
One of the biggest things for e-commerce that Moosend solves is cart abandonment. Moosend has a pre-built cart abandonment automation that lets you follow up with subscribers to recover lost sales.
The e-commerce AI by Moosend can send similar product recommendations inside your email campaigns, upsell products similar to a previous purchase that a subscriber made, and suggest items in your e-commerce store that a subscriber hasn’t purchased again recently.
Feature #8: Real-Time Tracking (Website Event Tracking)
Moosend gives you the ability to track events that take place on your website.
You can group contacts into different lists and send out specific emails based upon certain actions taken on your website specific to each subscriber.
This provides an overall more personalized experience and can greatly increase the lifetime value of each customer that visits your website.
Feature #9: Integrate With Different Software
Moosend also allows you to integrate with a lot of different software to aid in your email automation sequences and campaigns.

Feature #10: Real-Time Reporting & Analytics
The real-time reporting by Moosend allows you to see right away when someone subscribes, opens an email campaign, or clicks through to visit your site or sales funnel.
You can see exactly how well each of your email campaigns is performing all within the reports tab. You can track the unique and total open rates, CTRs, bounce rates, unsubscribes, and more.
You can also see the location of each of your contacts and then build out custom newsletters.
One of the things that’s unique about the tracking for Moosend is that they also give you a heatmap for each of the emails you send. This shows you where the different percentages of clicks occurred within an individual campaign.
Lastly, you can also export and download each of your reports as a PDF.
Moosend Pros: What are the best parts of Moosend?
I was honestly surprised by how many features that Moosend offers for such an affordable price. Here are a few of my favorite features of Moosend.
There are several key features and benefits of Moosend that make it an attractive email marketing automation platform for businesses. Here are some of the best parts of Moosend:
User-friendly interface: Moosend’s interface is designed to be intuitive and user-friendly, making it easy for businesses to create and send effective email campaigns without needing to have advanced technical knowledge or design skills.
All-in-one platform: Moosend is an all-in-one email marketing automation platform that offers a range of features, including email campaign creation, marketing automation, email list management, A/B testing, and reporting and analytics. This means that businesses can manage all aspects of their email marketing campaigns from one platform, saving time and increasing efficiency.
Advanced automation: Moosend provides advanced automation features that allow businesses to create workflows that can be triggered by different actions, such as user signups or abandoned cart purchases. This can help businesses engage with their customers at the right time and with the right message.
Affordable pricing: Moosend offers a range of pricing plans that are designed to fit a variety of business needs and budgets. Its pricing plans are affordable and flexible, making it an attractive choice for small businesses and startups.
Landing page builder: Moosend provides a landing page builder that allows businesses to create high-converting landing pages to accompany their email campaigns. This can help businesses improve their conversion rates and drive more sales.
Integration with other tools: Moosend integrates with a range of other tools and platforms, such as Salesforce, Magento, and Shopify. This allows businesses to connect Moosend with their existing systems and workflows, and use it in conjunction with other marketing tools.
Overall, Moosend is a powerful and user-friendly email marketing automation platform that provides a range of features and benefits for businesses. Its affordability, automation, landing page builder, and integration capabilities make it an attractive choice for businesses that want to engage with their customers and drive growth through email marketing.
Best Part #1: Website Event Tracking
Probably my favorite part about Moosend is the website event tracking.
This means you can retarget users that visited your website and even specific pages.
So, if you want to primarily send your subscribers to specific “money” pages on your site then you can set up a trigger to start email automation whenever someone visits your site but didn’t visit one of those pages.
Best Part #2: List Segmentation & Custom Fields
Segmenting your list is key to a healthy email list that gets great deliverability and open rates.
The nice thing with Moosend is that you can add in tons of different triggers to then add certain subscribers into different groups.
This will segment subscribers based upon their interest in certain topics.
In particular, one of the things that I mainly do is if a subscriber clicks a link in a previous email, then I may add them to a list of potential customers that are interested in a specific product to follow up with more emails in my automation sequence.
Best Part #3: Landing Page Creation
Not having to go out and purchase another software and learn how to use it is what makes having the ability to create landing pages directly inside Moosend so awesome.
There are also several templates to choose from to get started and the opt-in forms will all integrate directly with Moosend without any hassle.
If you are interested in a more sophisticated sales funnel builder, then I recommend checking out my DropFunnels review which is what I use.
Moosend Cons: What’s Not So Great About Moosend?
With how good Moosend is as an email marketing software, it was hard to find things that weren’t so great about it.
I settled on the shortlist below of what could be improved.
While Moosend has a lot of great features, there are a few areas where it may not be the best fit for all businesses. Here are some potential drawbacks of using Moosend:
Limited design flexibility: While Moosend’s drag-and-drop email editor is easy to use, it may not provide as much design flexibility as other email marketing platforms. This could be a drawback for businesses that have specific design requirements or want to create more customized email templates.
Limited customer support: While Moosend does offer customer support, some users have reported that their support can be slow to respond to inquiries or issues. This could be a drawback for businesses that need quick and responsive support.
Limited integrations with some tools: While Moosend does integrate with many popular tools and platforms, it may not have as many integrations as other email marketing platforms. This could be a drawback for businesses that use specific tools or platforms that do not integrate with Moosend.
Limited segmentation options: While Moosend does provide some email list segmentation options, it may not be as robust as other email marketing platforms. This could be a drawback for businesses that need more advanced segmentation capabilities for their email marketing campaigns.
Limited reporting options: While Moosend does provide reporting and analytics features, some users have reported that its reporting capabilities may not be as detailed or customizable as other email marketing platforms. This could be a drawback for businesses that need more advanced reporting and analytics options.
Overall, while Moosend has a lot of great features and benefits, it may not be the best fit for all businesses. It’s important to consider your specific business needs and requirements when evaluating whether Moosend is the right email marketing platform for you.
Bad Part #1: Only Shows 4 Triggers At A Time
One of the small things I found was when creating a custom email automation.
After selecting custom email automation, you can then select a trigger to choose from in order to start the email automation. However, when all the categories are selected it still only shows a single row of 4 triggers at a time.
This is a bit cumbersome and might not seem like much but if you’re using and interacting with the UI it can become a little annoying over time. Take a look at the video below to see what I mean.
Bad Part #2: Landing Page Builder Only Available In Paid Plan
The main benefit in my mind of having a built-in landing page builder is that you don’t have to purchase any extra sales funnel software.
However, the landing page builder is only available on the paid plans for Moosend. With this being said, it’s still is extremely affordable especially considering that most email marketing software does not have a free plan.
Moosend Pricing: How Much Does Moosend Cost?
Let’s talk about the Moosend pricing and see how much it costs.
Moosend pricing starts at $8 per month if you pay annually. There’s currently no Moosend lifetime deal of Moosend discount other than the yearly plans.
