What Is Freelance Digital Marketing? [For Dummies]

Freelance digital marketing is helping to promote digital products and services online.  This means you’re typically working with other companies to increase traffic to their offers and more importantly increase the conversion rate to sales.

There are a few main ways to do digital marketing:

  • Content Marketing
  • Social Media Marketing
  • Search Engine Optimization
  • Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Advertising

Content Marketing

Content marketing can take all sorts of forms depending upon which platform you’re promoting on.

Typically, when working with a client you would come up with a content marketing strategy that for either writing blog posts, creating YouTube videos, and more.  It’s about tying all the loose ends together for your client to have a solid plan going forward.

Your focus should be on diving deep into the current content that a client may have that can be improved.  In turn, the new content that gets created should be focused on optimizing for conversions.

Social Media Marketing

Social media marketing for a client or your own business involves working with platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.

You need to assess what is being done currently in terms of creating posts and figure out how to easily automate and speed up the post creation process by leveraging content from other channels.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Search engine marketing is by far my favorite type of marketing.

You are targeting specific keywords and search queries related to your target audience and driving traffic from search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Bing, YouTube, Quora, Pinterest, and more!

You can rank in the search engines by optimizing the content you create or your client’s content for better user experience and to match the search intent.

Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Advertising

Pay-per-click advertising is all about getting out more money than you put in.

Running paid ads can be done on nearly all of the content platforms such as Google, Facebook, Pinterest, and even other websites.

It takes time and capital to figure out paid ads, but once you do you can help businesses out tremendously that have the capital.

How To Become A Freelance Digital Marketer

There’s lots of ways you can go about becoming a freelance digital marketer.

One of easiest ways to get started is by going to Facebook groups, provide value to the group by interacting and helping others, then have your Facebook profile setup to get people to naturally visit your website or funnel to contact you.

This is a great way that works well to get clients fast as a marketer.

You can also work on apply the principles of digital marketing as well when building your own business.

In other words, you can start to create content that ranks in the search engines, post on social media effectively, or run some ad campaigns.

The cool part about this is that you can apply your knowledge as a digital marketer to any niche you want to and build a business online with it! 😀👍

Can You Do Freelance Digital Marketing From Home?

You can absolutely do freelance digital marketing from home!

All you need is an computer and internet connection and you’re ready to get started.

As a freelancer, you can work essentially as a solopreneur by taking on a few clients that pay you to run their ads or develop ongoing content startegies every month out of the comfort of your home.

There’s no need to hire out employees or really any overhead costs when getting started.  It’s simply a matter of taking the knowledge you have on digital marketing and applying it online for your clients.

This brings us now to training to learn digital marketing.

Online Business Builder Challenge

The best freelance digital marketing courses that I’ve come across and taken myself is the 15 Day Online Business Builder Challenge.

Freelance Digital Marketing From Home Training

It’s a challenge created by Legendary Marketer that walks you step-by-step exactly how to build a freelance digital marketing business.

The Online Business Builder Challenge is a 15 day training that takes you step by step to start and scale up your online business.

Over the course of the 15 days of the challenge, you’ll have several calls with a business plan advisor.  When I went through the challenge, there were two days unlocked at a time and once I had a call with my advisor they would unlock the next few days for me.

The main goal with these calls is to see where you’re at on your journey of building an online business and create a personalized business plan for your business.  The business plan is centered around the concept of a value ladder.

In particular, Legendary Marketer lays out the following 4 main steps to have as part of your value ladder:

  • Affiliate Marketing Products
  • Digital Products
  • Events & Masterminds
  • Coaching & Consulting

One thing to stress here is that you may not want to ever do an event or coaching for your business and that’s PERFECTLY FINE!

There are solopreneurs out there that are only promoting affiliate marketing products and their own digital marketing products without ever stepping foot into events or coaching.

By focusing on these two, you’ll likely have a more passive business model that doesn’t require to be slaving away at your work 24/7.  What’s cool about this is that you can still easily earn well over six figures or seven figures every year just by doing affiliate marketing and digital products! 😀

Not only do you get your own business plan advisor, but you’ll also get some pretty EPIC bonuses completely for free along the way!
