Let’s dive right in.

12 Best Autoresponder Software For Email Free & Paid Services & Platforms

12 Best Autoresponder Software For Email, Services & Platforms 2024

Here’s the complete list of the best autoresponder software and services for email beginning my most recommended.

1. ActiveCampaign – (Top Choice) Best Autoresponder Software

ActiveCampaign Home email newsletter softwareActiveCampaign is my top choice for the best autoresponder software on this list.  Its automation capabilities are unmatched and the email deliverability is 99% or better.

I’ve been using ActiveCampaign for quite a long time and found its user interface to be very easy to get used to and figure out how to use.  Being able to tag contacts, create lists, and create complex email automation sequences means that you can write your emails once and follow-up with your leads on autopilot.

If you’ve got a website, then ActiveCampaign is also really great because it can track specific actions that your subscribers take on your website whether that be visiting the page or clicking a link.

There are tons of additional features as well when you get a higher tier plan, such as lead scoring and SMS messaging all inside ActiveCampaign.  This makes it super easy to integrate SMS messaging with your list since everything is together in one place.

Now, let’s take a look at all the features that ActiveCampaign has to offer with their email autoresponder service.

Features Of ActiveCampaign

  • Dashboard – What’s nice about ActiveCampaign is that there’s the main dashboard where everything is laid out in an easy-to-follow manner.  You can quickly view things like the recent activity of contacts, interaction rate, active contacts, and view top contacts among other things.
  • Contacts – ActiveCampaign provides a nice table outlining each contact’s name, email, phone number, corresponding tags, and the date the contact was added to your list.  The most useful thing I’ve found is that you can use the drop-down filters to sort by tag name, list, or status.  You can even search for the name of a specific contact.
  • Campaigns – Campaigns in ActiveCampaign are essentially email blasts that you can send out as one-time emails or a series of emails.  The campaigns are also laid out nicely in a table format.  The feature I most often use is to view reports.  When clicking on view reports, it allows you to see exactly how many opens of the email you received, link clicks, and the specific time a contact opened an email or clicked a link.
  • Next-level Automations – The automations tab is where the magic happens!  What I really like is the fact that you can label specific automations to categorize everything which will help tremendously in the long run as you build out more and more automations.  The most important thing you can do with automations is segmenting.
  • Conversations – Conversations are another unique feature that ActiveCampaign provides.  It allows you to incorporate a live chat widget directly on your own website and integrate it with your email automations.
  • Lists – The lists in ActiveCampaign is another commonly used feature.  What I personally do and recommend, is to only create a few lists and segment contacts primarily based upon applying various tags inside your email automations.  For instance, I have one main list and a few other lists for those who have purchased specific products. Everything else is based upon my tags. 😀
  • Forms – In order to add contacts to your autoresponder, you need to create the opt-in forms.  What’s nice is that the forms creation process is actually fairly straightforward.
  • Reports – ActiveCampaign provides some pretty incredible reports that provide you quite a bit of detail.  You can see exactly how many opens, clicks, and what contacts specifically performed the actions.  The most important thing with these reports is that you discern what’s working in terms of getting you the most opens and highest click-through-rate to then build upon.

ActiveCampaign Frequently Asked Questions

  • Does ActiveCampaign offer a free trial?  Yes, ActiveCampaign gives you a 14-day free trial upon signing up for one of the plans.  You can cancel free of charge before the trial ends if need be.
  • Are there any ActiveCampaign discounts?  There is a 20% discount for non-profits.  You’ll need to contact ActiveCampaign with proof of non-profit status.
  • Are all the features available to try during the free trial?  All of the main features are available to use and test during the 14-day trial period.  There’s only a handful of features that aren’t available.

2. GetResponse

GetResponse HomeGetResponse is another top email autoresponder software and you can try the email autoresponder service for free for 14 days.

One of the cool parts about GetResponse that other email autoresponder software don’t have is the ability to create landing pages, sales funnel automations, webinars, and sell e-products all using the same software.

Related Post: 12 Best Sales Funnel Builder Software (Free & Paid)

Certainly, GetResponse is advantageous if you’re wanting to use all of those additional features.  Just keep in mind that if you want to create more than a few sales funnel automations or host a large webinar with more than a few hundred attendees, then you’ll need to either upgrade to a more expensive plan or purchase stand-a-lone software.

The email automation capabilities of GetResponse are good but unfortunately can’t be taken full advantage of unless you get one of the more expensive plans.  In other words, you can only create custom automations if you’re on the Professional plan otherwise you’re limited to using automation templates.

Now, let’s take a look at all the features the GetResponse has to offer.

Features Of GetResponse

  • Email Creator – The email creator is where you can create all of the emails that your subscribers will see.  Like most email autoresponder software these days, GetResponse allows you to edit your email visually.  I typically go for a simple email format with just plain text, although you can do you. 😅
  • Email Automation – The automation aspect of email autoresponders is what it’s all about.  As I mentioned before, if you get the Basic plan of GetResponse then you only will be able to use the automation templates.  This means you can’t add to or customize the workflow of the automations.  When I was playing around and testing the software, I found the templates to be limiting and you would need to likely get the Plus plan to do what you need to do.
  • Analytics & Reports – The reports inside GetResponse are actually on the same level if not better than ActiveCampaign which has excellent reports already.  The feature that you’re likely to use the most is the email comparison tool.  You can easily select two emails and compare the open-rate, click-through-rate (CTR), unsubscribe rate, bounce rate, and more.
  • List Management – Like any good list management tool, GetResponse allows you to sort contacts by subscription date, by date when a contact is highly engaged, and any other contact details.
  • Sales Funnel Automations – Create a sales funnel automation sequence of emails with e-commerce shop integration, automatically recommend products, and abandoned cart emails.
  • Landing Pages – Create landing pages using GetResponse that include popup forms and countdown timers.
  • Webinars – A full-on webinar software, including the ability to host unlimited webinars and 20 hours of storage available for recordings.
  • Forms – I don’t know about you, but I’ve never used the actual forms from the autoresponder software as my actual sign up form.  However, GetResponse does allow you to create popup forms, animated forms, and download forms.
  • Social Ads Creator – Create posts that serve as ads for your brand on social media with a visual editor.

There are tons of other features as well which you can view here.

3. AWeber

AWeber HomeAfter using and testing AWeber, I would describe it as simple yet effective.

AWeber has a very simple layout for creating emails.  The problem I found with it was that the automation capabilities were greatly lacking in comparison to ActiveCampaign and GetResponse.  There were no if-else conditions and no visual automation creator with advanced widgets and list segmentation.

If you need something simple that gets the job done, then AWeber has relatively good email deliverability and is welcoming of affiliate marketers if you’re sending lots of emails with affiliate links inside.

Take a look at the full list of features below.

Features Of AWeber

  • Email Template Smart Designer – AWeber comes with a full-on visual email template designer.  If you’re looking for something that allows you to create fancy emails, then AWeber has you covered.
  • Auto-Newsletters – Automatically send out emails whenever you publish a new blog post.
  • Automations – Create email automations and workflows with custom contact tagging.

4. Moosend

Moosend HomeI found Moosend to be an interesting best email autoresponder service.  The platform itself is mobile-friendly with the navigation inside your account on the left-hand side.

It comes with tons of email campaign templates to choose from to get started right away along with a visual email editor.

Similar to ActiveCampaign and GetResponse, Moosend also has a drag-and-drop visual editor for email automations.  The different “widgets” for an automation workflow aren’t as extensive as ActiveCampaign but could work well if it has everything you need.  I’d recommend getting a free trial and seeing what you might use.
