So… what are the best autoresponders for affiliate marketing?
It’s no secret that email marketing is a powerful traffic source for your business and one of the few things that you truly own.
Consequently, it’s important to make an educated decision and build your email list using an autoresponder that has all the necessary features and doesn’t cost too much.
We’re going to take a look at what I consider to be the top 3 email autoresponders out there for affiliate marketing. Also, you’ll hopefully gain some insight into which one you want to invest in by the end.
Let’s dive right in!
Why is email marketing important?
Whatever platform you’re creating content on or running paid ads, it’s important to have a way to follow-up with people who are interested in your business.
By having email marketing as the focus of your business, you’ll inevitably start to build relationships and trust with your audience.
All it takes is writing the emails once to be used over and over again in your email automation.
As you build your email list over time, you’ll start to grow your audience and can direct them to your funnel, blog, YouTube Channel, Facebook Group, and anywhere else to grow those platforms as well.
The best part is that email marketing is a traffic source that you control when you want to receive the traffic and the email can be sent to a segment or all of your list at once. Much better than any social media platform where you’re limited on organic reach.
Autoresponder #1: GetResponse
If you’re looking to get started with affiliate marketing and email marketing, then there’s no better email autoresponder to use than GetResponse.
There’s a lot of email autoresponders that simply don’t allow affiliate marketing and if they do then they’re lacking in automation capabilities.
With GetResponse you get some amazing automation capabilities including:
- If-else conditions
- Lead scoring
- Link clicked?
- Email opened?
GetResponse Pros:
- Email Marketing Automation Capabilities
- Personalized Messaging
- Tons of Integrations with WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, Zapier, Stripe, PayPal, and so many more
- Next-level 24/7 support
- Autofunnel builder
- Landing page builder
- Automation templates available for all plans
GetRepsonse Cons:
- Webinar hosting only available starting with the PLUS plan and up
- Custom automation sequences only available starting with the PLUS plan and up
- Limited to 1 sales funnel with Basic plan
One of the things I most like about GetRepsonse is that they’ve included things like a sales funnel builder, webinar hosting, and landing pages.
With these additional features, next-level automation, and affiliate friendly it’s why GetResponse claims the top spot as the best autoresponder for affiliate marketing.
Autoresponder #2: AWeber
AWeber has a soft spot in my heart you could say.
It happens to be the first email autoresponder I ever used.
It’s also the most affiliate friendly autoresponder out there which is why so many affiliate marketers use it.
AWeber has a simplistic layout and gets the job done in terms of automatically sending out emails to your subscribers. The main reason why I switched away from AWeber though was that it had virtually no custom automation capabilities.
The ability to send out an email based upon a link being clicked or an if-else statement was simply non-existent. Let’s take a look at the pros and cons to get a better idea of what you can expect.
AWeber Pros:
- Integrates with tons of software as a well-known autoresponder
- Stock Photos database
- Hundreds of ready-to-go email templates
- Segmenting capabilities
AWeber Cons:
- Sub-par analytics for open rates at link clicks
- Sign up forms are poor
- Virtually no automation capabilities
The big pull for AWeber, in my opinion, is that they allow affiliate links directly in emails.
However, their lack of automation capabilities makes them take second place on this list.
Autoresponder #3: ActiveCampaign
ActiveCampaign comes in at third on this list, but you might be surprised to hear that it’s actually the email autoresponder I’m currently using to run my business. Now, why is that?
First, ActiveCampaign is pickier in terms of affiliate marketing and doesn’t like affiliate links in emails.
Personally, I do affiliate marketing but always direct people to a bridge page first that contains my affiliate links.
Second, my main goal is to sell my own products and use affiliate marketing as a stepping stone to build income and get there quicker.
Out of all the autoresponders listed on this page or any other autoresponder for that matter, ActiveCampaign wins the battle for automation and segmentation capabilities.
If you’re looking for a robust solution to segment contacts and personally interact with your subscribers in an automated way, then ActiveCampaign blows everything else out of the water.
Let’s take a look at a few of the pros and cons of ActiveCampaign.
ActiveCampaign Pros:
- Automation capabilities are best-in-class
- Lead scoring
- SMS messaging
- Subscriber segmentation is advanced
- Incredible analytics and reporting
ActiveCampaign Cons:
- Not very affiliate friendly
- SMS messaging only available with PLUS plan
- Lead scoring only available with PLUS plan
Overall, ActiveCampaign has remarkable automation capabilities to segment contacts in ways that are unparalleled. Although, it’s not very affiliate friendly and requires you to use a bridge page or at the very least use affiliate links sparingly in your emails.
With these things in mind, ActiveCampaign comes in third for the best autoresponder for affiliate marketing.

Email Marketing FAQ
Is email marketing dead?
Email marketing is far from being dead. In fact, with so many social media accounts being suspended and banned nowadays I’d argue that it’s more important than ever to invest in email marketing. In doing so, you’ll be building up an asset that you own and a traffic source you can turn on at any time.
Which email marketing software is best?
For affiliate marketing, GetResponse is the best email autoresponder. In terms of automation and segmentation capabilities, ActiveCampaign beats them all.
How can email marketing help my business?
Email marketing helps your business because you’re building an asset. By building an asset, you’re creating something that you personally own. What’s even better is that you can simply send out an email on any topic of your choice and get traffic from those subscribers.
How can email marketing boost sales of a business?
There’s an old saying that says the money is in the list. I’d venture to say that this holds true today and will for a very long time. Your email list is a valuable asset for your business that you own. By following up with leads who put in their email address, you’ll exponentially be increasing your sales. It’s very rare for someone to purchase right away on the front-end. That’s why follow-up on the back-end with email marketing is so critical for your business.
